This is a small map of gravel roads I’ve ridden on and ranked. Gravel roads in Iowa vary greatly in quality or “rideability” so I figured it would be interesting to map them out.
Roads are ranked green, yellow, or red.
Green roads are very good riding, very smooth and compacted gravel generally for the entire width.
Yellow roads may have slightly chunkier gravel or only small sections that are decent riding.
Red roads are not recommended, either very fresh chunky gravel, deep sand, or heavily rutted.
